Union County Intersection to Close May 1

Detour will be in place for drivers

N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close New Town Road at Ennis/Broomes Old Mill roads on May 1 to convert the existing intersection to a roundabout. Contractor Kemp Sigmon Construction. Co. Inc. was recently awarded the $893,532 project.

The contract calls for the roundabout to open to drivers in late June. Landscaping and vegetation establishment can continue through the end of the year.

Drop in at Town Hall between 12 noon and 8:00 p.m. next Friday, April 21st, and share your thoughts on future land use in the town! Meet your neighbors on the Town Hall lawn for a game of corn hole or Jenga and grab a bite to eat from KO Food Truck (starting around 2 p.m.), Repicci's Italian Ice, or Papa's Pizza (starting around 4 p.m.).
