2023 Municipal Candidate Filing

July 7 – July 21

The candidate filing period for the November 7, 2023 Municipal Elections begins at noon on Friday, July 7, and ends at noon on Friday, July 21, at the Union County Board of Elections, 316-B East Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112. The filing fee is $5 and must be paid by check, credit, or debit card. All contests are nonpartisan and no primary will be held. To be eligible to file for office, candidates must be 21 years old on Election Day and must be a registered voter residing within the municipal corporate limits.

Labor Day-Active Waste Closed

September 4

Active Waste Solutions will be closed on Monday, September 4th. There will be a one-day delay for trash collection. Residents will be serviced Tuesday the 5th through Saturday the 9th.

Independence Day-Active Waste Closed

July 4

There will be a one-day delay in trash collection for those typically serviced Tuesday through Friday. Trash will be collected Wednesday the 5th through Saturday the 8th.

Shredding @ Town Hall

May 6

Bring your old documents to be shredded securely to Town Hall. Until 1 p.m. or the truck is full!

Food Truck Fridays

May 19

Join us for the last of our Food Truck Fridays from 5:30-8:30 at Town Hall. We'll have music from DJ Mike, beautiful face painting from Flamazing Face Paint and Glitter, Jason with Fun Filled Entertainment making balloon art!

Pick up some dinner from Pot Belly BBQ, CupBearer on the Move, or the Plated Palate. There will be tasty treats from Junior Scoops and beer for the adults from Americana Brewery in Monroe and Olde Meck.
