Planning and development is underway in the Charlotte area on a proposed project to add express lanes in both directions of I-485 between I-77 and U.S. 74 (Independence Boulevard) to improve traffic flow in this critical transportation corridor.  The North Carolina Turnpike Authority held a meeting on June 25 on the overview for proposed express lanes on for I-485 and U.S. 74.
