WEDDINGTON ELECTED OFFICIALS
Town Council
The governing body of the Town of Weddington is the Town Council, which has four members, and the Mayor. The Town is divided into four electoral districts, and each district is represented on the Council by one member. The qualified voters of the entire Town elect the members of the Council. To be eligible for election to the Council and for service on the Council as representative of a district, a person must reside in the district. All candidates for the Town Council of Weddington are to be elected to four (4) year terms each. The qualified voters of the entire Town elect the Mayor. He/She is elected to a two-year term of office. Town Officers shall be elected on a nonpartisan basis and the results determined by a plurality. The Town of Weddington operates under the Mayor-Council plan as provided in General Statutes Chapter 160A, Article 7, Part 3. Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Weddington Town Hall.
